The Assembly of the Republic, as an institution of national importance in Portugal, is visited daily by citizens interested in the way it works: from organized school visits to small groups interested in this institution, or even tourists who visit the Assembly of the Republic with the purpose of seeing its artistic and cultural spoils of acknowledged interest. In order to make these tours more accessible and pleasant, the Assembly of the Republic has just acquired from Imediata, through the Citizens Information and Public Relations Centre, a set of guided Tour Systems (S.V.G.), which will allow these visits to take place without interfering with the sessions taking place in the Assembly.

The guided Tour System is an extremely light equipment with extraordinary sound quality. It allows group visits with a minimum of disturbance not only to the guide, who does not need to raise the voice to be heard, but also to the visitor, who does not need to be so close to the guide, in order to hear the visit’s explanations. For each sender there are several receivers which can be divided into six channels, thus allowing for several simultaneous visits. This is also an advantage to the functioning of the Assembly of the Republic because the sessions can proceed without interfering with the parliamentary activity. With the guided Tours System of the A.R. it is possible to make several simultaneous visits, by directing and adjusting the communication to the group in question. Even if the ages or nationalities are different, everyone can listen to the guide’s explanations without interference.
